The Confederate battle flag: tradition or take it down?

In the wake of the mass murder at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, there was renewed debate over the flying of the Confederate battle flag over the state capitol.

Wednesday’s mass shooting at a historic black church has reignited a highly-sensitive debate over the Confederate flag that flies high over the statehouse. NBC’s Ron Allen reports.

However, on Monday, June 22nd, Governor Nikki Haley (R) called for the removal of the flag from the state capitol to cheers from the crowd.

It seems the debate is only just getting started. Sales of Confederate flag related items soared, and yet many companies announced they will no longer be selling such merchandise.
