You may think of the Irish as traditional, conservative Catholics, but Ireland surprised us all by voting yes to equality for same-sex marriage on May 22nd. While other countries have enacted marriage equality laws, with 62% of people voting yes, Ireland became the first country to approve same-sex marriage by popular vote.

Sounds like a lot more people will be getting lucky when the law is enacted later this summer. Celebrations began immediately following the announcement, with one woman wasting no time in proposing to her girlfriend of 6 years.
