Fun Home, a musical telling the story of a young lesbian and her gay father, is based on the book of the same name by Alison Bechdel and was the big winner of the night. The show took home many of the evening’s top awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score Written for the Theatre. Not only is the show notable for having the first lesbian as a main character, it is also the first time women have won the award for Best Original Score.
